Institutional History
Before 1962, the present-day Pannyannur Grama Panchayat was part of Panoor Panchayat, which included the areas of Panoor, Thrippangottur, Mokeri and Kunnothuparamba.
At that time, Panoor Panchayat was part of the Koothuparamba Firka. Shri. Chanthroth K. T. Padmanabhan Nambiar, a native of Pannyannur, was the first President of Panoor Panchayat.
According to the Madras Panchayat Act of 1951, Shri. P. R. Kurup was the first elected President of Panoor Panchayat. At that time, the President was elected directly. Shri. K. C. K. Adiyodi was the only Communist member of the Administrative Committee.
In 1962, Pannyannur Grama Panchayat was established with Pannyannur Village as its jurisdiction. In the election held in 1963, Shri. P. V. Kunjiraman was elected as President.
The Administrative Committee consisted of seven elected members and one nominated member. The details of the members are given below.
